Asurion Leadership Belt Books

Asurion's Everyday Leadership team serves Asurion employees by creating leadership courses to aid them in their professional development. The Everyday Leadership team came to the Visual design team requesting a refresh of their "Belt" courses — a series of courses that learners would level-up through as they advance in their careers. Each course has student guides and supplemental materials that are presented to students in both print and digital formats.

After reviewing the old materials, we concluded that the layout and design needed to be simplified and freed of distractions so that students could better focus on the actual content of the learning materials. We also modernizing the look to be more professional and inviting to learners.

When developing the rebrand, I contributed branding concepts and layouts for the identity system. I led the development of the InDesign templates the rest of the team uses to update the documents and ensured that paragraph styles, parent pages, and established layouts were thoroughly built out. My attention to detail has helped when reviewing the team's work in assuring that all courses are consistent in how each element is applied across the many courses in all 5 levels.

I also implemented the use of InCopy (editorial software that allows non-designers to make copy edits to InDesign files) and educated both the Visual Design team and the Everyday Leadership team how to setup and use the software to make updating courses more efficient for both teams.

The Belt materials are distributed electronically and printed. For electronic distribution, all files are built out with editable forms to make filling out student guides as efficient and user-friendly as possible. For print production, I compiled all files, reviewed and updated them as needed to ensure they were ready for print, and worked closely with local printers to have them ready for in-person classes.
